Turning on the lights for the first time at the opening of "Language of the Birds"

Brian Goggin's "Language of the Birds" lights the night skies with a flock of solar-powered books pouring words out onto the sidewalk below. The scene depicts the rich literary heritage of Broadway and Columbus, with the Condor Club, City Lights Bookstore, Kerouac Alley, Spec’s, Vesuvio Caffe, Tivoli's, and the Beat Museum in close proximity. Artaud in North Beach

Artaud's flirtations with North Beach started when Joe left Project Artaud to establish City Lights Poetry Theatre with Lawrence Ferlinghetti. He was followed by Sarah leading parades down Broadway, and Trix the Clown blowing up animal balloons in bars for the tourists.

Condor

Brian’s installation shares the corner with Tommy D, when Tommy hits the Condor stage the last Sunday of each month.
